Your Favorite Self
At the beginning of a new year we’re often inundated with ideas around self improvement and becoming your best self. Although, I see this messaging everywhere, all the time. We are told that in order to be a successful human we should be optimizing, drinking more green juice, de-wrinkling our bodies and becoming kinder, happier versions of ourselves every single day.
I’m exhausted just typing that out!
Instead, I offer an alternate perspective. What if you created a picture of your favorite self in your mind? What do you look like? Where are you? How do you feel? My favorite self is smiling in the sunshine, telling jokes. I’m feeling light and positive and content. I’m accepting of myself and my kids are running around freely playing and having fun. I’m feeling connected and loved by myself and others.
So let’s do just that this year. Invite in your favorite self every morning instead of chasing a version of yourself who might have all the boxes checked, but is miserable or burned out in the process.
